FauxCrème Color Concentrate™ have much more of the pigment concentration of standard FauxCrème Colors™ which results in greater opacity making it a superb tool for refined furniture finishing projects. FauxCrème Color Concentrate™ allows the artist to create heavily pigmented mediums, wiping stains and almost opaque glazes. The exceptional opacity of the material also make it an excellent product for dry brushing and color tipping when greater color intensity is required.

Basic Application:

  • Ensure that the substrate is clean and free from grease, dust or any foreign substance.
  • Apply 2 coats of a proper wood tone base color SetCoat®/AquaBond™ to the surface as a base for a simple wood graining technique. Allow 4 hours to dry between coats and 24 hours after the final coat.
  • Create a mixture of 75% FauxCrème Clear® and 25% SoSlow™ Super Extender to produce a super slow drying glazing medium.
  • Using 50% of the newly created glazing medium and 50% FauxCrème Color Concentrate™ Van Dyke Brown.
  • Apply an even coat of this color mixture over the base color using a foam brush.
  • Use a wood-graining brush to form the wood-grain patterns.
  • After the graining procedure has dried one may further embellish the finish. Dip a dry foam brush into pure Faux Crème Color Concentrate™ and offload onto a paper towel. Brush the material over the raised areas of the piece or wherever pure opaque color is desired.
  • For added protection, a topcoat such as Varnish Plus™ can be applied.

Tips:

  • Heavier glazes are sometimes required for furniture finishing; therefore, heavy bodied glazes require heavy color concentrations. Because wall glazing does not require a heavy a concentration of color, if using FauxCrème Color Concentrates™ for this purpose, thin with water to the desired concentration first before adding to the glazing medium.
  • Always make a sample to ensure the desired result.
  • Faux Crème Color Concentrates™ can be adjusted using FauxCrème Color™, FauxColor™ , SuperCreme™ (Creamy Smooth Artist Color) and Stain & Seal™.
