AquaTex (Texture Fresco)
AquaTex™ is a semi-transparent; material that simulates embedded color resulting in an old world fresco look. This material is designed for professional applicators. It may be tinted with AquaColor™ and applied in multiple layers, producing a positive/negative effect that is extremely durable.
Basic Application:
- Prepare the work surface by applying 2 coats of AquaBond™ or AquaSeal™. This is especially important because working AquaTex™ over latex paint will affect the product's workability by decreasing the open time, forming a poor bond and possible cracking.
- Mix small amounts of AquaColor™ into the AquaTex™ material and apply a thin to medium coat over the prepared surface using a brush, roller or spray unit. (One or more colors may be used)
- Immediately blot and arrange into color patterns using a bag or terry cloth. Do not overwork the product; this may result in decreased open time.
- When approximately one half of the applied area looks dull, (usually 10 - 20 minutes depending on the drying conditions) dry brush with a sponge brush or soft bristle brush in circular motions changing direction periodically.
- Continue these motions over the entire surface, moving into areas as they start to look dull.
- Allow the first layer to dry for at least one hour before applying additional coats.
- To apply additional coats, wet the work surface with water. Apply a new coat of AquaTex™ to the wet surface and repeat the above procedure.
Tips:
- May be sanded smooth using 220 grit sandpaper.
- ColorSeal™, AquaGard™ or AquaThane™ may be applied for increased protection in kitchens and bathrooms.
- For best results apply over lighter colored basecoats
