LusterStone Quart
LusterStone™ is a revolutionary architectural coating that produces beautiful reflective stone-like patterns. This product is unsurpassed in its simplicity, versatility and ease to repair. The nature of the material, allows it to be used to create a stunning variety of high/low dimensional finishes that do not require burnishing to obtain designer quality results.
Basic Application:
- Apply 2 coats of AquaBond™, AquaSeal™ or SetCoat™. For best results choose a color that is similar to the LusterStone™ hue. Allow this base to dry for a minimum of 24 hours.
- Using a 1/4" sponge/nap roller apply an even smooth coat of LusterStone™, moving the roller in a random pattern. If necessary, LusterStone™ may be thinned up to 20% with water for this step. Allow the LusterStone™ to dry for a minimum of 2 hours, then sand lightly with 220 grit sandpaper.
- For the second coat, apply LusterStone™ to a flexible plastic or metal trowel. Using smooth sweeping strokes 12" to 24" in length spread a thin even coat of the LusterStone™ to the work surface.
- Keep the LusterStone™ coat thin and smooth. LusterStone™ may be thinned up to 10% with water for this step. Once the material has dried for at least 2 hours, lightly sand and then reapply the LusterStone™ to any missed spots or areas of low coverage.
- If a higher shine is desired, fine sanding and repeated thin wet coats of LusterStone™ can be applied. Sand with 220 grit or finer sand paper and thin the LusterStone™ with up to 30% water for this procedure. Trowel the material on to the work surface, and then go back over it, pressing the LusterStone™ into the surface while scraping it off at the same time. This method will produce a very tight finish that does not require any further polishing.
Tips:
- Mix thoroughly before each use.
- To obtain the best results, attend a manufacturer approved workshop.
- Under normal conditions, no topcoat is required. A topcoat may be used in areas such as kitchens and bathrooms where extra protection is required.
- When repairing, sand the damaged area first, wipe down and then reapply LusterStone™ in thin even coats.
- Always make a sample to ensure the desired result.
- Close the container after each use. Keep air tight. Keep the sides and edges of the container clean. Do not allow dried product to fall into the wet material. A sheet of plastic wrap pressed onto the materials surface will keep it from drying and protect it from foreign matter.
- LusterStone™ can be applied to irregular surfaces such as ironwork and assorted fixtures by brush or spray.
- On large walls the application process can be started and stopped at any point in the process without experiencing lap lines.
- LusterStone™ works well as a fill coat on textured surfaces.
