Mica Glow Flakes

Similar to the radiant MicaGlow Powder™, MicaGlow Flakes™ are refined colored flakes available in today's most popular metallic col­ors. These thin, irregularly shaped flakes are approximately 1/16” wide and beautifully simulate the size, color, and shape of the reflec­tive colored aggregate found in most granite. Easy to use and versatile, MicaGlow Flakes™ complement and add sparkle to the entire range of Faux Effects™ products.

Basic Application:

• Ensure that the substrate is clean and free of grease, dust, etc. Apply 1 to 2 coats of SetCoat™/AquaBond™ for the basecoat. Let dry 24 hours.
• Apply a full coat of RsSandstone™ or O'Villa Sabina™ over the basecoat using a brush, trowel or texture spray unit. Many other Faux Effects™ dimensional products can be used. While the product is still wet, stipple the material with a stippling brush.
• After the stippled surface has dried for approximately 15 minutes, apply MicaGlow Flakes™ by lightly brushing them onto the surface or blowing them over the stippled areas (wear a protective mask for this procedure). One or more MicaGlow Flakes™ colors may be applied in this step.
• After the stippled RsSandstone™ or O'Villa Sabina™ becomes firm, but not dry (allow to dry for an additional 30 minutes after the flakes have been applied), compress the material and smooth the surface using a high-quality stainless steel trowel. Let dry.
• Additional layers or embellishments may be added using many other Faux Effects™ products, such as Venetian Gem™ Finish Coat, Venetian Gem™ Gloss Coat, RsGlaze™ or RsStone™ (Special Fine)

Tips:

• MicaGlow Flakes™ can be added directly into any clear Faux Effects™ product. They can also be utilized in many of the semi-opaque and opaque products where specific patented techniques are used.
• MicaGlow Flakes™ resist color bleeding and provide excellent color contrast when added to or applied over any tinted product
.
• Additional detail can be added to marble/stone-like finishes with the infusion of MicaGlow Flakes™. Because of the fine nature of the flakes, extra depth can be added to the finish without creating additional texture. In most cases the flakes will lie flush with the surface.
