PlasterTex Gallon

PlasterTex™ is a specially formulated textured material designed to produce a grained plaster finish. This product is excellent as a base coat for future Venetian Gem™ applications or as a final coat when a rough, distressed look is preferred.

Basic Application:

• For best results apply 2 coats of Faux Effects™ SetCoat™, AquaBond™ or AquaSeal™.
• Allow each coat to dry a minimum of 2 hours.
• Tint PlasterTex™ with Faux Creme Color™ or AquaColor™ to the desired hue.
• Using a good quality metal or plastic trowel, apply an even 1/16" to 1/8" thick coat over the work surface.
• Let the material dry a minimum of 4 hours or until dry to the touch (time will vary depending on the drying conditions)
• Once the PlasterTex™ is dry, apply additional coats to achieve a distressed plaster finish
• For a more refined, less sandy plaster finish, apply additional coats of clear or tinted VenetianGem™ Finish Coat or a thin VenetianGem™ Plaster color coat until the exact grain and color is achieved. This will even out the PlasterTex™ surface.

Tips:

• Old World Lime Paint & Wash may be added to PlasterTex™ prior to application. This will act as a burnishing agent and is very effective when PlasterTex™ is utilized as a final coat. In general, do not exceed 25% Old World Paint & Wash when creating this mixture.
• Depending on the application, burnish the work surface with a high quality stainless steel trowel or a block of wood. Do not use trowels of lesser quality as these have a tendency to blacken areas of the finish during the burnishing process.
• Always make a sample to ensure the desired result.
