PrimEtch™ is a water based, space age coating designed to be applied to hard to paint surfaces such as ceramic tile and glass. Versatile PimEtch™ also performs exceptionally well as a transfer coat for applying Custom Art Imprints™.

Basic Application:

  • Clean the work surface with alcohol, then lightly sand with 220 - 400 grit black finishing paper.
  • Prepare the surface well and remove all dust and moisture prior to applying PrimEtch™.
  • Apply a thin even coat of PrimEtch™ to the work surface. This material may be rolled on or sprayed; however, the best results are achieved with a fine brush or lambs wool applicator.
  • Allow the material to dry for a minimum of 8 hours (depending on the drying conditions) or overnight.
  • Once dry the PrimEtch™ may be coated with a more durable finish such as AquaBond™, SetCoat™ or AquaSeal™.
  • The work surface is now ready to accept glazes, Venetian Gem Gloss Coat™,Custom Art Imprints™ or many of our other products.

Tips:

  • An excellent primer coat for hard to coat interior/exterior surfaces including glass, tile, decorative sink bowls, vanity and kitchen countertops.
  • When PrimEtch™ is used to apply Custom Art Imprints™ the open tack time is 2 - 3 hours. Once the image has been embedded in the PrimEtch™ it is not necessary to seal the image. PrimEtch™ dries to a hard glossy film.
  • PrimEtch™ may be thinned with water if necessary. Do not thin with more than 10% water.
  • PrimEtch™ dries to a clear finish and can be used without additional topcoating where hardness and durability are not an issue.
  • Always make a sample to ensure desired results.
