SetCoat Clear / AquaSeal™ is a product designed to work specifically as an almost totally clear base coat for decorative finishing work, especially when using AquaCreme™ or AquaGlaze™ and extended open time is important. When applied with caution, it also performs well as a barrier coat to seal in glazed finishes. Because clear SetCoat Clear / AquaSeal™ seals porous latex paint, it is the recommended product to use over previously painted walls when the original color will be utilized in the decorative finish.

Basic Application:

  • Make sure that the work surface is clean and free of grease, dust and foreign matter.
  • Apply 2 thin coats of SetCoat Clear / AquaSeal™ using a brush, roller or spray equipment. Do not apply thicker coats because this may cause the product to run or sag. During spray applications, thin SetCoat Clear / AquaSeal™ up to 20% with water if necessary. For roller applications, use fine grain sponge rollers and finish roll in one direction to prevent lap marks.
  • Let SetCoat Clear / AquaSeal™ dry overnight before applying any glaze.
  • To apply as a barrier coat, gently brush, roll or spray SetCoat Clear / AquaSeal™ on to the work surface. Do not overwork the SetCoat Clear / AquaSeal™ into the glaze or sensitive artwork. Let dry overnight before applying any additional layers of glaze or clear coats.

Tips:

  • Do not use over very dark colors. SetCoat Clear / AquaSeal™ will dry with a slight frosting effect.
