TextureFil™ is a time saving fill-in acrylic formulation that allows the user to smooth out textured surfaces. No primer or SetCoat™/AquaBond™ is required prior to or after its application. This remarkable product works as both a primer and a basecoat; it is a hard, chemical-resistant, resurfacing product. It makes even heavy textures and stippled wall surfaces ready for smooth faux finishing with the application of a few simple troweled-on coats. TextureFil™ may be directly coated or decoratively finished with any Faux Effects™ product, so there no need for additional primers or basecoats.

Basic Application:

  • Ensure that the substrate surface is clean, dry, and free of grease, oil, and other contaminants.
  • Using a high-quality, stainless steel trowel, apply an even, smooth coat over the substrate. This material may be applied 1/16” to 1/8” thick. Only minimal shrinkage will occur as the product dries.
  • If filling in old knockdown finishes, cement block or damaged drywall, additional coats may be required depending on the depth of the texture. Allow the product to dry for 6 hours between coats and 24 hours after the final coat.
  • If filling in extremely deep, rough, highly textured surfaces, backfill a coat of drywall mud over the surface and let dry prior to using TextureFil™.
  • TextureFil™ can be sanded between coats to eliminate any trowel marks. This will create a perfectly smooth, matte finish.
  • Once TextureFil™ is fully dry, it can be coated with any other Faux Effects™ product such as FauxCréme™ Clear, LusterStone™, AquaStone™/FauxTex™, Venetian Gem™ Bellissimo or AquaCrackle™.
  • An initial base coat of SetCoat™/AquaBond™ is not required.

Tips:

  • If desired, TextureFil™ can be tinted to a mid-tone color using FauxCréme Color™/AquaColor™ or FauxCréme Color Concentrates™. Use a drill mixer with a squirrel attachment to ensure thorough distribution of the colorant.
  • TextureFil™ can be applied directly over clay-based wallpaper paste without the need for an oil-based primer or stain blocking water-based primer. Over regular heavy-duty, water-based paste, apply two thin coats of TextureFil™, letting the first coat dry thoroughly before applying the second.
  • Mix thoroughly before each use.
  • To obtain the best results, attend a manufacturer approved workshop. Always make a sample to ensure desired results.
  • Close container after each use. Keep airtight and the sides and edges of the container clean. Do not allow dried product to fall into the wet material. Place a sheet of plastic wrap onto the surface of the material to keep it from drying and protect it from foreign matter.
  • In the absence of a stainless steel application trowel or fine-quality plaster trowel, TextureFil™ can be applied using most drywall compound application tools.
  • TextureFil™ can also be utilized to create textured surfaces.
